Common Projects in Nichols
Home Renovations and Remodels
Nichols has older rural homes on large lots that see steady renovation work. Kitchen and bathroom updates, flooring replacement, and structural remodels all require a dumpster. A 20-yard dumpster handles most single-home renovation jobs in the area.
Estate and Full Property Cleanouts
Rural Polk County properties tend to accumulate a lot over generations. Large lot cleanouts, full estate clearances, and whole-property turnovers generate significant volume. The 30-yard dumpster handles most estate cleanouts in the 33863 area. We can often deliver same-week.
Outbuilding and Shed Demolition
Nichols properties often have old outbuildings, sheds, and structures from the early phosphate era that have reached the end of their life. Demo debris from wood-frame structures and metal roofing goes in the 30-yard dumpster. Tell us about access when you call.
Roof Replacements
Florida weather is hard on roofs throughout south Polk County. Most Nichols residential roofs fit in a 20-yard dumpster. Call with your square footage and we will size it right.
Agricultural and Rural Property Cleanup
Large Nichols properties with working land generate steady debris from fence line clearing, old equipment removal, and land maintenance. The 30-yard dumpster is right for most agricultural jobs here. Unpaved driveways and wide-open placement are not a problem.
Storm Debris and Yard Cleanup
Large properties with mature trees generate significant debris after Florida storms. Tree removal, brush clearing, and hurricane cleanup are regular calls from the Nichols area. Call to confirm your materials before booking.
Permit Information
Nichols is unincorporated Polk County with no city government. No permit is needed if the dumpster sits on your private property or driveway. Street or right-of-way placement on Polk County Road 676 or other county roads requires a Polk County permit. Most Nichols properties have more than enough space for on-property placement without a permit.

About Nichols
Nichols is an unincorporated community in Polk County sitting on Polk County Road 676, less than a mile south of State Road 60, about 11 miles south-southwest of Lakeland and 2 miles west of Mulberry. It has its own post office with ZIP code 33863 and a CSX Valrico Subdivision rail spur running through the community.
Nichols was established in 1905 during the early phosphate mining boom in the Bone Valley region. It was one of the more unusual mining communities of the era because it had company housing inside the Nichols Mine site alongside private residences outside the gate on Mount Carmel Church Road. The company housing was phased out and abandoned by 1950. The Mosaic Company still operates the Nichols Mine, which sits about two miles east of Mulberry and is one of the largest phosphate mining operations in Polk County.
Today Nichols remains small and rural. It has a post office, a handful of residential properties along Polk County Road 676 and Mount Carmel Church Road, and the active mine operation nearby. Properties in the area tend to run large, and the community has deep roots in Polk County's agricultural and mining heritage.
