Built Before 1978?
Test before you tear out. Lead paint shows up in a lot of pre-1978 homes. When you hire someone to sand, scrape, or demo painted surfaces in one, they're required to be certified in lead-safe work. Popcorn ceilings, old floor tiles, and pipe insulation are worth testing for asbestos, too.

How long can I keep the dumpster during a remodel?
As long as the job runs. Start with the 7 day rental, and after that it's $25 a day. If it fills before you're done, call and we'll swap it for an empty one.
Will drywall put me over the weight limit?
Almost never. A standard 4 by 8 sheet of half-inch drywall weighs around 50 pounds, so even a big kitchen tear-out barely dents a 3-ton limit. The heavy hitters are tile, plaster walls, and concrete.
Does it matter that my house is older?
It can. Lead paint was common until it was banned for homes in 1978, and if a contractor is paid to disturb it, federal rules say they need lead-safe certification. Some older ceilings, floors, and insulation also contain asbestos. A quick test before you open walls is worth it.
