Concrete Disposal Dumpster Rental in Lakeland FL

The short answer

Concrete is the heaviest debris we haul. A 4 inch slab weighs about 50 pounds per square foot. That means a 15 or 20-yard dumpster, with its 3-ton limit, holds only about 120 square feet of slab. A 30-yard, with its 4-ton limit, holds about 160. Most driveways take several loads. Call (863) 412-5036 before you book, and we will plan your loads with you.

This page is for you if you or your crew are breaking up the concrete and need a dumpster to haul it away. If you want us to do the demolition too, see our concrete demolition service.

Estimate based on 150 pounds per cubic foot of concrete. Rebar adds weight. Call us to confirm your load plan before you book.

How Much Common Concrete Jobs Weigh

All sizes below are 4 inches thick. A 6 inch slab weighs about 50 percent more.

ProjectSizeWeight (approx.)15 or 20-yard loads30-yard loads
Patio slab12 x 12 ft7,200 lbs (3.6 tons)21
Single car driveway10 x 20 ft10,000 lbs (5 tons)22
Sidewalk, 50 feet4 x 50 ft10,000 lbs (5 tons)22
Two car driveway20 x 20 ft20,000 lbs (10 tons)43
Garage floor20 x 20 ft20,000 lbs (10 tons)43
Pool deck600 to 800 sq ft30,000 to 40,000 lbs (15 to 20 tons)5 to 74 to 5
Why your dumpster looks almost empty: a 3-ton limit holds only about 1.5 cubic yards of solid concrete. That is a thin layer across the floor. Stop loading when you reach your planned share of the slab, not when the dumpster looks full.

Which Size Is Best for Concrete?

For pure concrete, weight decides everything, and space barely matters. That changes the usual sizing advice.

SizeWeight limit1 day3 days7 daysCost per ton (1 day)
15-yard3 tons$335$350$400about $112
20-yard3 tons$385$425$450about $128
30-yard4 tons$485$525$550about $121
  • Pure concrete: the 15-yard holds the same weight as the 20-yard for less. Its 4 foot walls are also easier to lift heavy chunks over.
  • Concrete mixed with light debris: a 20 or 30-yard gives you room for the bulky material on top.
  • Fewer trips: the 30-yard holds one more ton per load, which can mean one less swap on a big job.

Weight over the limit is billed by the ton from the disposal site scale, typically $50 to $90 per ton in Polk County. See all dumpster rental prices.

Plan Your Loads Before You Start

Big concrete jobs go faster with a swap plan. When your planned share is loaded, we pick up the dumpster, haul it off, and bring it back empty while you keep working.

  • Tell us the slab size and thickness when you book.
  • Tell us how fast your crew will break it, so a full dumpster never stops the job.
  • Schedule swaps ahead of time, not at the last minute.

What Goes in a Concrete Dumpster

Accepted
  • Plain and reinforced concrete
  • Rebar and wire mesh, left attached
  • Concrete block and cinder block
  • Brick, pavers, and masonry
  • Asphalt, stucco, and mortar
Not accepted
  • Dirt and soil
  • General trash
  • Hazardous materials
  • Paint and chemicals

Brick, block, and asphalt are close to concrete in weight, so plan them the same way.

Dumpster Rental or Concrete Demolition?

Renting a dumpster makes sense when you or your crew can break the concrete. If you would rather we bring the equipment, break it up, load it, and leave the site clean, see our concrete demolition service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size dumpster do I need for concrete disposal?

For a pure concrete load, the 15-yard is usually the best value. It holds the same 3 tons as the 20-yard for $50 less, and its lower walls make heavy chunks easier to load. The 30-yard holds 4 tons. Most driveways and slabs need more than one load, so call (863) 412-5036 before you book and we will plan them with you.

How much does a concrete slab weigh?

Concrete weighs about 150 pounds per cubic foot. A 4 inch slab works out to about 50 pounds per square foot, and a 6 inch slab to about 75. A 10 by 20 foot single car driveway at 4 inches weighs about 10,000 pounds, or 5 tons.

Why is my dumpster at the weight limit when it looks almost empty?

A 3-ton limit holds only about 1.5 cubic yards of solid concrete. Spread across the floor of a dumpster, that is a thin layer. Plan your loads by weight, not by how full the dumpster looks.

Can rebar and wire mesh go in with the concrete?

Yes. Reinforced concrete goes in as-is, with the rebar or wire mesh still attached. Rebar does add weight, so plan a little extra.

Can I mix concrete with other debris?

You can, but put the concrete in first, on the bottom, and keep in mind the weight limit still applies to the whole load. Ask us when you book whether a clean concrete load makes more sense for your job.

What cannot go in a concrete dumpster?

Dirt and soil, general trash, hazardous materials, paint, and chemicals cannot go in. Dirt goes to a different kind of facility, so keep it out of your concrete load.

Concrete jobs need a quick plan before you book. Call us and we will run the weight math with you.

We rented a 30-yard dumpster, and the service was excellent from start to finish. From the initial phone call to the delivery, everything was smooth and professional. They offered the best price compared to other companies, and on delivery day, the driver was incredibly patient while maneuvering the dumpster into the small space we had available. Thank you to the entire team for the outstanding service. I highly recommend them!
