What We Haul in Homeland

Farm and Barn Cleanup

Fence lines, broken equipment, and barn cleanouts pile up quickly. A 30-yard handles most farm jobs. Drain oil and fuel from old machinery before it goes in.

Old Sheds and Outbuildings

Wood framing and metal roofing from a teardown fit a 30-yard. A concrete floor or footing is a different story, since it's heavy, so call before booking.

Homeland Permits

Homeland is unincorporated, which means Polk County rules. Placing a dumpster on your own property needs no permit. Placing one on a county road does, so call Polk County Building at (863) 534-6080 and ask for a plans examiner. Building, roofing, and demolition work also run through the county.

Homeland Questions

Can a roll-off truck get down my dirt driveway in Homeland?

Usually, if the ground is firm and dry. After heavy rain, soft spots can be a problem. Tell us about your driveway when you call and we'll pick the safest spot.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Homeland?

Only if it goes on a public road. On your own land, no permit is needed.

What size do I need for a farm cleanup?

Usually a 30-yard. If a concrete slab or foundation is part of the job, call first so we can plan for the weight.

About Homeland

Homeland is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Polk County, south of Bartow on US-17. The original settlement was called Bethel before the name changed to Homeland. Today it has a post office and a historical park.

Homeland Heritage Park, at 249 Church Avenue, is Polk County's only existing historical park, on five acres. Its centerpiece is the Homeland School, built in 1878 and once known as Bethel Academy. It is the oldest surviving school in the county and sits in its original spot. The school closed in 1956, was donated to the county in 1985, and joined the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

The park also holds the 1887 Old Homeland Methodist Church, the Raulerson House, and an English family's log cabin and barn from 1888. Around the park, Homeland is still rural, with farms and older homes on large lots.
